The Flood Family Collection

About the Collection
Based in San Francisco, California, The Flood Family Collection is dedicated to the collection, preservation, research, and exhibition of art from the 20th and 21st centuries with the goal of fostering greater appreciation and understanding about American Art. The collection contains over 1,500 artworks by more than 300 artists working in a wide range of media, including painting, sculpture, drawing, works on paper, ceramics, textiles, jewelry, artist books, prints, film, and video. Encompassing a vast array of styles and movements, the collection’s core strengths lie in the art of the West Coast of the United States, with an emphasis on the art produced in California. In addition, The Flood Family Collection maintains an archive of papers, ephemera, and a library of publications to aide in scholarly research.
The Flood Family Collection achieves its goals through the loan of works and ephemera to exhibitions and promoting their inclusion in publications. It also provides access to scholars and curators on a by appointment basis to conduct research and view artworks.
The Flood Family Collection began in 1997 and is an effort involving multiple members of the family. The majority of its growth is a result of the collecting efforts of Greg Flood. In addition to collecting mainstream artists, Mr. Flood’s interest in and passion for championing emerging, unknown, overlooked, and outsider artists and galleries has added breadth and depth to the collection.
Greg Flood is an artist, writer, and the Director of Paul Thiebaud Gallery in San Francisco. His career in the arts began in 2005 and included positions at the di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art, Patricia Sweetow Gallery, and Brian Gross Fine Art prior to joining Paul Thiebaud Gallery.
